Ripe Sassafras is owned and run by hills locals who love what we do. Our focus is to help you create a wonderful experience. Our menu is modern Australian and meals are made from scratch in-house. Offering a delicious and fresh breakfast and lunch menu, our chefs use local and ethically sourced produce that includes plenty of plant based, vegan and gluten free meals and house made cakes, scones and biscuits. As for our coffee, we are pretty passionate about quality, serving a double ristretto for a standard cup. Our roaster is Melba Organic, nine time winners of the golden bean coffee roasting competition. Sweet tooth? No problem, indulge in a Lindt hot chocolate; yummo! Tea lovers will enjoy specialty teas from Love Tea, Tea Leaves of Sassafras and spicy chai tea from Monk's Chai.
The venue is centred around a quaint building that was originally a family home dating back to the early 1900's. The main building has kept the original period features, providing a charming, cosy and inviting dining space with a fireplace. There is also a front deck that welcomes our guests with their furry friends.
Our back deck is a stunning alfresco dining space at the rear of the building. This is surrounded by French doors that frame the outdoor trees and open to the elements in the warmer months with a built in fireplace to keep you snug on the cooler days. Our guests love the regular visits from Kooky the Kookaburra who has adopted us as her favourite drop-in place.
